The ‘Big News’ for Class 12th students is finally here straightaway from a high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday. As per the decision in the meeting, Class 12th Board Exams 2021 have been cancelled. The decision has been taken in view of uncertain conditions due to COVID & feedback obtained from stakeholders. It has been decided that students’ evaluation process will take place in an objective manner and students would be given the option to appear for exams if they wish for it. This option will be provided by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), as and when the situation is conducive.
Several union ministers including Rajnath Singh, Prakash Javadekar, Piyush Goyal, Nirmala Sitharaman, Dharmendra Pradhan, and bureaucrats of various ministries were a part of the meeting.
In the said meeting, PM Modi was updated on all possible options that emerged after the States were asked to submit their opinion in writing.
As of now, no alternative assessment criteria for the exams has been finalised yet but if considered what senior officials have stated, the assessment criteria for Class 12 students can be expected similar to the Class 10 evaluation process which took into account the performance of a student in various tests and exams through the year.
